Terms of Service
Last updated: 5 July 2026
1. About Fennel
Fennel (“we”, “us”, “the service”) is an informational food-tracking tool designed to help people understand the dietary impact of foods on health conditions such as kidney stones, gout, chronic kidney disease, coeliac disease, lactose intolerance, IBS, and type 2 diabetes. We are a small, independent application operated by the Fennel team. Contact: support@myfennel.com.
2. Beta status
Fennel is currently offered as a free beta, on the web and as a mobile app distributed through testing channels. That means: features may change or be removed, occasional bugs and downtime are expected, and, although we take care with your data, you should not treat a beta service as your only record of medically important information. Plan tiers (Free, Pro, Family) are assigned manually to testers during the beta; no payments are taken.
3. Not medical advice
Fennel provides informational content only and does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nutrient values are compiled from published research and may vary by food variety, preparation method, and analytical technique. Daily intake targets displayed in the app are examples only. Your personal targets must be set by a qualified clinician or registered dietitian based on your individual test results and medical history.
Never disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice because of information seen in this application. If you have a medical emergency, contact emergency services.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By using Fennel you confirm you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you may only use the service with parental or guardian consent.
5. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Do not share your password. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@myfennel.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the service.
- Submit false, misleading, or abusive content.
- Circumvent any security measure or access controls.
- Use the service to build a competing product using our content or data.
7. Your data
The diary entries, hydration logs, symptom records, custom foods, and recipes you create belong to you. We store them only to provide the service. We do not sell, share, or use your health data for advertising. If you join a family plan, only custom foods you mark as family-shared are visible to your household; health data stays private per person. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data storage, GDPR rights, and how to delete your account.
8. Feedback and surveys
If you submit feedback or answer in-app surveys, you grant us the right to use those submissions to improve the service, without obligation or compensation. Don’t include information about other people or sensitive details you wouldn’t want stored.
9. Food data accuracy
Fennel makes reasonable efforts to ensure nutrient values are accurate and sourced from reputable databases (USDA FoodData Central, EFSA, peer-reviewed literature). However, we cannot guarantee accuracy for all foods, brands, or preparation methods. Values should be treated as estimates. Each value includes a confidence level and source citation.
10. Service availability
We aim to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, particularly during the beta. We reserve the right to suspend, modify, or discontinue any feature of the service at any time with reasonable notice where practical.
11. Plans and payments
Paid plans (Pro, Family) are planned but no payments are processed during the beta; tester access to paid tiers is assigned manually and may be adjusted or withdrawn as the beta evolves. When payments launch, subscription terms, pricing, and cancellation policy will be published on the Pricing page and communicated before any charge is made. No payment will ever be processed without explicit consent.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Fennel is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including any reliance on food data or nutritional information displayed.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms periodically. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
